BACKGROUND
In June 2025, United to Beat Malaria hosted NFL player and malaria survivor Calvin Anderson and his wife, Sheree Lanihun Anderson, for a series of congressional meetings and a reception on Capitol Hill. To fully leverage the impact of Calvin's advocacy efforts and his visibility as an offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, an omnichannel communications approach was taken. From short reels for Anderson's social media profiles in collaboration with the Steelers, to feature content on United to Beat Malaria channels, to earned media coverage in Andscape, an ESPN vertical, the strategic content approach engaged an entirely novel audience in the fight for a malaria-free world.

REEL #1
CALVIN'S___STORY

I singularly filmed, edited, and produced all video content displayed on this page. This first reel is a broader narrative overview to introduce Anderson and his connection to the issue to newer audiences. To capitalize on existing momentum, this finished product was turned around in less than 24 hours.
